The most common and well known tetra from Africa. This species can grow quite large (for a tetra) and is strongly dimorphic. Males are distinctively adorned with fin embellishments and streamers, as well as shimmering green and blue tones. Despite their larger size and fearsome teeth they are generally quite laid back and peaceful. A perfect schooling fish for the larger aquarium.
The albino morph of congo tetras still retain all the orange and blue colour of the standard morph, but on a white base colour instead of the grayish-brown of the wild type.
